I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Ohio State University. Prior to that, I was a Lecturer in the Philosophy Department at Auburn University. I received my Ph.D. from UNC Chapel Hill and my BA from Hope College. You can find my CV here.
I work mostly in metaphysics and philosophy of science and I am especially interested in methodological questions that concern and connect both areas. My recent work has focused on explanation in metaphysics. I also occasionally work in philosophy of religion and have been thinking recently about social ontology. More about my research can be found here. As a teacher, I'm a broad generalist. My teaching interests range from logic to early modern philosophy to bioethics. I'm also very interested in pedagogy and have worked closely with Auburn's Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. This spring, I will be teaching Engineering Ethics and Probability and Decision Making. For more information, see my teaching page. When I'm not doing philosophy, I like reading science fiction, getting outside, and spending time with my wife and my daughters, Penelope and Genevieve. |
